Coffee County EMS Evaluations 2012; EKG can't bring this one back to life!
Out of the gate from the report, Issue #1; "To increase efficiency and productivity, a shared mission and purpose for the Coffee County Ambulance Service needs to be defined" Well if it had management maybe it could but what we have is a budget hole so deep the goverment backhoe couldn't dig that deep (only private ponds). Issue #2; Has a history of poor revenue realization which contributed to a "large" tax subsidy. What they are saying here Mr & Ms taxpayer...you will pay. However, we must disagree where they say they have a collection problems because collecting from the tax payer is no problem. Issue #3; Ambulance service management lacks internal control over expenditures of the Coffee County Ambulance Service that "has" led to waste and potential fraud and abuse of county-owned resources. Like county employee performing landscaping operations for the service and county was issuing a form 1099 to this employee instead of paying overtime.
One more thing under Weaknesses of the Service; Sexual and discriminatory remarks made by certain employees and people in authority creating hostile work environment. I think this is not a weaknesses but a liability and lawsuite waiting to happen.
In the 2010-2011 budget it was reported that EMS cost tax payers $2,263,670 but in the EMS report it shows the cost $3,336,091. Faulks there's only $1.1 million difference, anyone can make that mistake.
